![]() A spa and a family room, along with the brand’s other trademark amenities, will also be available and the lounge itself will feature “custom, visual wall installations”.įrom the F&B side, guests will be able to dine from complimentary chef-created menus, while sommelier Anthony Giglio and mixoloist Jim Meehan have put together a list of premium wines and specialty cocktails. The new Centurion Lounge will offer what American Express describes as a “tranquillity area” that features both brightly and dimly lit areas designed to allow travellers to adjust to new time zones. American Express yesterday confirmed the new lounge, which will be located after security in the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX and accessible to Terminals 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.īut new details also now have been unveiled, including the size of the lounge – 1,290 sqm – and an opening date of 2019, along with the lounge’s facilities. I've found the food is also pretty meh by CL standards.American Express has revealed details of its new Centurion Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) – the company’s 12th such lounge in its network.Īs previously reported by Business Traveller, American Express had reportedly signed a deal to develop the new lounge back in April. The narrow, two story layout makes it feel much smaller and crowded than it actually is, especially when they don't open the lower level in the mornings, since the speakeasy doesn't open until 11. I also hold the unpopular opinion in that I don't really like the JFK lounge. The food that is complimentary for Platinum card holders is usually subpar, typical Mexican attempting to cook US food. It's not the biggest, and it lacks outside light, but the food is always good and the staff are the friendliest around. I also have a soft spot for IAH, as it's my home lounge. ![]() The new LGA lounge is like all the others.ĭEN is probably my current favorite from a layout perspective. Being landside I felt it kept the crowds down, it was never crowded and the food and service was always great. Same with SFO - it had a terrible layout, putting the wine wall behind the seating area, it was always a crowded clusterfuck. Hopefully all this will be rectified with the new lounge. The current SEA lounge is hands down the worst. I've been to all of the US Centurion Lounges, except for LAX and PHX. The bartenders at Centurion are always really great as well. The quality of the bar at Centurion resulted in me leaving Sk圜lub and waiting 20 minutes to get into Centurion, but maybe I'm a crazy person. However, I went to Sk圜lub once when flying Delta and thought their food options actually looked even less interesting than Centurion. I almost never have to wait in line at the bar or for food.Īgreed the food options have been poor and IMO gotten worse over the last 6 months. In fact there are usually empty tables because I think they're at the fire marshal capacity even with empty tables. Once I get into the current lounge I don't think I've ever experienced it being physically crowded. Assuming the new lounge holds at least 150 people, that should be more than fine, even expecting that currently some people don't even bother trying to get in. ![]() While there is usually a line at the current lounge, there's pretty steadily a wait list of only around 10-15 people, while the lounge accommodates around 50 people. Combined with the guest access changes in Feb, I have a feeling the new lounge will be fine. The new lounge is around 3x the size, I believe. ![]()
